Beauty therapists: booking mobile beauty visits at home
How mobile beauty therapists can take home-visit bookings online: zones and travel time, set-up in the client's home, hygiene, slot lengths and what to ask.
6 min read
Run mobile beauty visits by area: open slots for the districts you cover on set days, make each slot long enough for the treatment plus setting up and packing away, and leave travel time between visits. Say in each description what space you need, such as a table near a plug or room for a couch, and what's included. Clients book a home visit at a time that suits them, and your day follows a route instead of zigzagging across town.
Services that travel well
Nails, brows and lashes, waxing, facials and massage all travel with the right kit. Machine-based or messy treatments are harder in someone's living room. Start with the ones you can set up in under ten minutes. On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page, and each slot belongs to one service, sits within one day and has its own capacity.
| Service | Example slot | Example price |
|---|---|---|
| Gel manicure at home | 1 h | €38 |
| Lash lift and tint at home | 1 h 15 | €55 |
| Leg and bikini wax at home | 1 h | €50 |
| Facial at home | 1 h 15 | €60 |
Durations and prices are examples: set your own. Each slot covers your time in the home, including set-up and packing away.
Zones and travel
Say in each description which towns or districts you cover and whether there's a travel supplement further out. If you cover several areas, create one service per area, such as "Gel manicure at home, west side", and open its slots only on the days you're there. Slots repeat each week on the weekdays you choose until an end date, so a fixed area pattern takes a few minutes to set up. Leave gaps between slots for the longest drive in that area.
What to ask before the visit
The booking form takes first name, last name, email and phone, plus an optional note that reaches you in the new booking email and appears in the client's calendar file. Ask in the description for:
- the address, floor, lift and parking;
- allergies, sensitive skin or recent treatments;
- whether there's a table near a plug, or space for your couch;
- pets at home, and whether they'll be in another room.
Hygiene and set-up
Bring everything you need to work cleanly: a protective cover for the table or floor, fresh towels, single-use items, disinfectant and a bag for waste you take away. Say in the description that you leave the room as you found it. Plan the set-up the same way at every visit, and between clients in the same home, so it takes minutes and doesn't eat into the client's treatment time.
Group bookings at home
A hen party or a birthday may want several people done in one home. Each online booking takes one place, so offer a group booking by phone: agree the number of people and treatments, then create a slot long enough for everyone and book the organiser into it yourself. First and last name are required, email and phone optional; enter their email so they receive a confirmation with a calendar file. Put the number of guests and treatments in the booking note.
Safety and boundaries
Working alone in other people's homes, keep someone informed of your route for the day. Your bookings sync with Google, iPhone or Mac calendars, so you can share the day with a trusted person. Say in the description that you may decline or end a visit if you don't feel safe.
Your kit
Keep a packed kit per service so nothing is forgotten: a folding couch or a cushion, a lamp, an extension cable, products and tools, towels and covers. Check it the evening before against the next day's bookings in your bookings list, and restock single-use items each week.
Regular clients and changes
When a client wants their next visit, book it before you leave and enter their email so they receive a confirmation with a calendar file. Book doesn't send reminders, so that date in their calendar is what brings you back. Clients can't move bookings online: they contact you, and you move the visit from your bookings list and confirm it yourself, since Book doesn't email clients about changes. Book doesn't take payments, so say how clients pay. Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited services and bookings, no commission, no contract.
