Sign language lessons for families at home

Offer family lessons as their own service, at the family's home or online, with one booking for the whole household and a fixed weekly slot that you book for them in advance. Learning at home means the lesson uses the family's own everyday situations: meals, bath time, getting ready for school. Ask in the booking note who will take part and how old the child is, so you can prepare signs and activities that fit that family from the first lesson.

A family lesson isn't a group course with fewer people. Parents, brothers and sisters, sometimes grandparents, learn together, with different levels and attention spans, and a young child who may join in for part of the time. The vocabulary is about home life, and the rhythm follows the family's week. A family lesson is one slot with one place: one parent books it, and the whole household takes part. The public form asks for that parent's first name, last name, email and phone, and has an optional note. In your description, suggest what to write:

Regular practice matters more than long lessons. After the first meeting, agree on a day and time that suits the family, for example early evening after school or Saturday morning. Create that slot on the weekday, repeated until an end date, and book the family into each week from your calendar. First and last name are required, email and phone optional; with the email, the parent gets a confirmation and calendar file for every lesson. A booked slot with one place is full and doesn't show on your public page.

Include travel in the slot or leave a gap before the next one, and group families by area on the same evening when you can. Online lessons need no travel and can fill the times in between.

Children get ill, holidays come round, and families need to move a lesson. They can't do it online: they contact you, and you move or cancel from your bookings list. Book doesn't email families about changes, so confirm the new time yourself. Leave school holidays out of your repeated slots if the family travels, or keep them in if they'd rather continue.
