Planning equine osteopathy visits at the yard

Plan equine work as yard days: pick a day for each yard or area, open back-to-back slots, one per horse, and let each owner book their own horse's slot online with the horse's name and box in the note. Once the day is fixed, you drive once, treat several horses in a row, and the owners at that yard see exactly which times are left. For yards you visit regularly, give them their own service, so owners there only see the slots meant for their yard.

A single horse at the end of a long country road can cost you half a day for one session. At a livery yard or a riding centre, several owners may want a session around the same time, before the season or after a hard competition weekend. Grouping them on one day turns a long drive into a full, well-paid morning, and owners know you come on a set day.

On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page, and each slot belongs to one service with its own start and end. Owners pick a service first, then see its free slots. That lets you use services to tell owners where each slot takes place:

Names, lengths and prices are examples: use your own. A price that covers travel for single visits keeps yard days the better deal, which nudges owners to book together.

If you visit a yard every week or every other week, create its slots once and repeat them on that weekday until an end date; delete the weeks you don't go. Leave a buffer between slots if horses need to be brought in from the field.

You get the note in your new-booking email. The public form asks the owner for their name, email and phone; one booking is for one horse, so an owner with two horses books two slots.

Owners who compete plan around their events: a session some days before, another after. Ask for the event date in the note, and add extra yard days before busy competition weekends if your riders ask for them. Quiet winter weeks are a good time for single visits further away.

A horse goes lame, a yard floods, a trailer breaks down. Owners can't move bookings online: they contact you, and you move or cancel from your bookings list. Book doesn't email owners about changes, so confirm new times yourself, ideally in the yard's group chat when a whole day moves. A cancelled slot shows again on your page, so another owner at the yard can take it.
