Coaches and consultants: booking a package of sessions

How coaches and consultants can sell a package of sessions and book it: a first session online, the remaining dates from your calendar, pauses and expiry.

6 min read

Sell a package of sessions as a clear offer on your booking page, let the client book the first session online, then book the remaining sessions yourself from your calendar at the rhythm you agree. Describe what the package includes, how long it is valid and what happens if a session is missed, and keep your own count of sessions used. The client gets a fixed set of dates in their calendar from the start, and you get a predictable week instead of chasing each next session.

What a package changes

Single sessions leave the rhythm to chance: the client books when they think of it, gaps can grow, and progress can stall. A package of six or ten sessions sets a commitment on both sides. For you, it means fewer one-off bookings to manage and a clearer view of the weeks ahead. For the client, it means a structure and a reason to keep going between sessions.

Describing the package on your page

On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page. A package isn't a booking type of its own, so present it through a first-session service whose description explains the whole offer:

  • how many sessions the package includes and how long each lasts;
  • the planned rhythm, for example every week or every two weeks;
  • how long the package is valid, for example three months;
  • what happens if a session is missed or cancelled late;
  • how and when the package is paid.

Durations and prices are examples: set your own. The package price sits on the first-session service; the following sessions are already paid. Keep single sessions on your page too, for clients who aren't ready to commit.

Booking the first session online

The client books the first session of the package on your page like any appointment, with their name, email and phone and an optional note. Ask in the description for a few words on what they want to work on. The note reaches you in the new booking email, so you can prepare, and the client receives a confirmation with a calendar file.

Booking the remaining sessions

At the end of the first session, agree the rhythm and book the next sessions yourself from your calendar, in the package session service: create the slots for the agreed dates, then book the client into them straight away. With one place per slot, a booked slot is full and no longer shown on your public page. First and last name are required, email and phone optional; enter the client's email so they receive a confirmation with a calendar file for each date. Book doesn't send reminders, so dates already in the client's calendar are what keep the package on track.

Booking all at once or in steps

For a short package, booking every date at the first session works well: the client sees the whole programme. For a longer one, book the first half, then the rest at the halfway session, when you both know whether the rhythm suits. Either way, keep the same weekday and time where you can, so the sessions become a habit.

Pauses, missed sessions and expiry

Life gets in the way: holidays, illness, a busy month at work. Say in the description whether a package can be paused and for how long, and whether a late-cancelled session counts as used. When a session moves, the client contacts you and you reschedule it from your bookings list, then confirm the new date yourself, since Book doesn't email clients about changes and they can't reschedule online.

Keeping count

Book doesn't track how many sessions of a package remain, so keep a simple count of your own: a line in your client notes, or a spreadsheet with the client's name, sessions used and the expiry date. Mention the count at each session so the end of the package never comes as a surprise, and offer a renewal or a lighter follow-up rhythm two sessions before the last.

Payment

Book doesn't take payments, so agree how the package is paid: in full before the first session, in two instalments, or as you prefer, and say it in the description. Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited services and bookings, no commission, no contract.

Can clients buy a package directly on my booking page?
They book the first session online; the package itself is described in the service description and paid as you agree.
How do I book the other sessions?
From your calendar, at the rhythm agreed at the first session, with the client's email for confirmations.
Does Book count the sessions left in a package?
No. Keep your own count and mention it at each session.
What if a client needs to pause?
Say your pause rule in the description and move the remaining sessions from your bookings list.
