Mediums: booking phone and video sittings online
How mediums can offer phone and video sittings clients book online: a service per format, how you connect, a quiet space, the note and slots on home days.

Offer phone and video sittings as their own services, with their own slots on the days you work from home, and say in each description exactly how the sitting will happen: who calls whom, when you send the video link and what the client needs ready. Clients who can't travel, live far away or prefer the privacy of their own home can then book a sitting in a few clicks, and you avoid the last-minute messages asking how to connect. A remote sitting runs best when both sides know the routine before the call starts.
One service per format
Phone and video sittings don't need the same instructions, and you may want them to last a different time from an in-person sitting. Separate services let you give each its own length, price and description, and show you at a glance, in your bookings list or synced calendar, how each sitting takes place. On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page, and each slot belongs to one service with one place.
| Service | Example slot | Example price |
|---|---|---|
| Private sitting, in person | 1 h | €70 |
| Private sitting, by phone | 45 min | €60 |
| Private sitting, by video | 1 h | €70 |
| Short remote follow-up | 30 min | €40 |
Durations and prices are examples: set your own.
Who calls whom
Decide one rule per format and write it in the description, so there is no doubt at the start time:
- Phone: you call the number the client gave at booking, at the start of the slot, and you try again twice if there's no answer.
- Video: you send a link by email before the sitting, for example the evening before or an hour ahead, and the client joins at the start time.
- Abroad: say whether you call international numbers, or ask clients abroad to choose video.
Book sends the client a confirmation email with a calendar file when they book, but it doesn't create video links. Use the video tool you prefer and send the link yourself.
Helping the client prepare
A remote sitting depends on the space the client is in. Use the description to suggest a quiet room where they won't be interrupted, a charged phone or a computer with sound, headphones if others are at home, and a few minutes of calm before the call. Clients who prepare this way arrive in a better frame of mind, and you lose less time to background noise and connection problems.
What to ask in the booking note
The booking form takes first name, last name, email and phone, plus an optional note you read in your new booking email. For remote sittings, ask only for practical details: the best number to call if it differs from the one entered, or the country they're in. The note also appears in the calendar file the client receives, so keep anything personal for the sitting itself.
Slots on home days
Give remote sittings the times when you are at home and can sit somewhere quiet: evenings, or the days you don't see clients in person. Open slots in the phone and video services on those days, spaced to leave a short break after each sitting, and repeat them weekly on the weekdays you choose until an end date. Don't open a remote slot at the same time as an in-person one: Book doesn't stop slots of different services from overlapping, so keep the two on separate times.
Time zones
Clients in another country see your page and book a time; say in the description which time zone your slots are shown in, so a client abroad doesn't join an hour early or late. If you read for clients in other time zones regularly, open a few slots early in the morning or late in the evening for them.
When a call drops
Phone lines and connections fail sometimes. Say in the description what happens then: you call back straight away, and if the connection can't be restored, you offer a new slot. Move the booking from your bookings list and tell the client the new time yourself, since Book doesn't email clients about changes and they can't reschedule online. Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited services and bookings, no commission, no contract. It doesn't take payments, so say how you're paid for remote sittings.
