Private ski lessons in peak weeks: slots, meeting points
School holiday weeks fill fast. How independent ski instructors can open private lessons early, choose lesson formats, and set clear meeting points.
6 min read
Open your peak weeks early, with a few clear formats: short private lessons, half-days and full days, each as its own service, and a meeting point stated in each description. Holiday weeks are when families plan ahead, and a page with free slots and clear formats lets them book before they arrive. The rest of the season, you can keep more flexible slots and fill them day by day.
Formats that suit peak weeks
| Service | Example slot | Example price |
|---|---|---|
| Private lesson, 1 hour | 60 min | €60 |
| Private lesson, 2 hours | 120 min | €110 |
| Half-day, morning | 3 h | €170 |
| Half-day, afternoon | 3 h | €160 |
| Full day | 9:00–16:30 | €320 |
| Early bird lesson, before lifts get busy | 60 min | €55 |
Formats and prices are examples: use your own resort's rhythm. On Book, each service has a name, an optional description and a price, and each slot belongs to one service with its own start and end. A slot sits within one day, so a full day works, but a three-day private course is booked as three days: you book each day, or the client books each day online.
Open the season early
For the weeks you know will be busy, create your slots as soon as your season is planned. A slot can be repeated on the chosen weekdays until an end date, so one morning half-day repeated every day of a holiday week takes a minute. Don't open a full day on a day where you also offer morning and afternoon half-days: Book doesn't stop slots of different services from overlapping, so a client could book both. Pick one layout per day.
Meeting points and practical details
The description of each service is shown on your booking page; use it for the practical side:
- where you meet: a lift, a restaurant, the ski school sign;
- what's not included: lift passes, equipment rental;
- what to bring: helmet for children, gloves, snacks for a full day;
- what happens if the weather closes the slopes.
Your page shows times in your resort's time zone, with its name, which helps guests booking from abroad before the trip.
Family and small-group private lessons
A private lesson for a family of three is one lesson, not three. The public booking form books one person per booking, so ask in the description that one adult books for the group and writes in the note how many people, their ages and levels. You receive an email for each new booking with the note. When you book a group yourself, by phone for example, you can set the number of persons on the booking.
What guests should write
- level of each skier, in simple words: first time, can stop and turn, red runs;
- ages of children;
- ski or snowboard;
- a mobile number that works on the mountain.
Quieter weeks and last-minute bookings
Outside the holidays, guests decide later, sometimes the evening before. Keep a lighter pattern of slots open in those weeks, for example one morning lesson and one afternoon lesson each day, and let guests book online up to the last moment. If a day stays empty, you're free for walk-up requests at the ski school desk or for your own training. When someone books, you get an email right away, so you can confirm the meeting point by message the same evening.
Guests who come back every year
Returning families may want the same instructor in the same week. At the end of their stay, you can book next season's lessons yourself from your calendar, once your slots for that week exist, and enter their email so they receive a confirmation with a calendar file. It keeps your best weeks filled with guests you already know.
Weather and changes
Wind, fog or closed lifts can cancel a morning. Say in the description how you handle it, such as moving to another time that week. Guests can't move bookings online; when you reschedule or cancel from your bookings list, Book doesn't email them, so call or message them, ideally the evening before or early in the morning. Calendar sync with Google, iPhone or Mac shows your day on your phone before you head up.
Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited bookings and services, no commission, no contract. It doesn't take payments, sell lift passes or rent equipment.
