Tarot readers: booking readings at parties and events

How tarot and card readers can take bookings for parties and corporate events: a booking call first, hours on site, set-up, guests per hour and the date.

6 min read

Take event bookings in two steps: a short booking call that hosts book online, then the event itself, booked by you as one slot on the event date once the details are agreed. On the call you learn the type of event, the number of guests, the hours, the space and the budget; on the day you arrive knowing where you'll sit and how many readings to expect per hour. Treat each event date as one booking with one place, so a date can never be sold twice.

Start with a booking call

An event isn't a reading: the host needs to tell you about the occasion before anything is fixed. Create a short booking call service, by phone or video, that hosts book on your page. Its description says what you'll discuss and that the event date is confirmed afterwards. On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page.

Durations and prices are examples: set your own, and say what travel costs beyond a given distance. Keep event services separate from your private readings, so your page shows clearly which slots are for one-to-one clients and which are for hosts.

What to agree on the call

  • the occasion: birthday, wedding, hen party, staff party, product launch;
  • the number of guests and how many may want a reading;
  • the hours you'll be on site, and when guests arrive;
  • the space: a quiet corner, a table and two chairs, lighting, noise;
  • the tone: light and fun for a party, discreet for a corporate event;
  • who your contact is on the day, and parking or access.

Write the answers down straight after the call and send the host a short summary by email: hours, place, price, what they provide. That summary is what you both refer to on the day, and it avoids misunderstandings about a table, the length of your stay or who pays for parking.

One slot per event date

Once the host agrees, book the event yourself from your calendar: open a slot in the matching event service on that date, covering your hours on site plus set-up, with one place, and book the host into it. First and last name are required, email and phone optional; enter the host's email so they receive a confirmation with a calendar file. With one place, the slot is full and no longer shown on your public page, so nobody else can book that time.

Readings per hour

At a party, readings are short: a few minutes each, so guests can take turns. Tell the host how many readings fit in an hour at your pace, so they know whether to book two hours or three. If the guest list is long, suggest a longer slot rather than rushing each reading.

Set-up and arrival

Count set-up time in the slot: arriving, finding your corner, laying your cloth and cards, and a few minutes with the host. Ask for a spot away from the music and the bar, where a guest can sit with you without being overheard. If the event is outdoors, agree a covered spot and a plan for wind and rain.

Corporate events

A staff party or a client evening calls for a different tone from a birthday. Agree with the organiser what is suitable: light, positive readings, no health or relationship questions in front of colleagues, and a way for a guest to step aside if they want a more personal answer. Ask who signs off the booking and where the invoice goes, and put the company's name in the booking note when you book the slot, so it's easy to find later in your bookings list.

Travel and busy dates

Weekends in summer and the end-of-year party season are the dates hosts ask for first. Open booking call slots well ahead of those periods, and say in your description how far you travel and what it costs beyond your area. Leave time between two events on the same day if you take more than one.

Changes and cancellations

Hosts can't move bookings online: they contact you, and you move or cancel the event from your bookings list, then confirm it yourself, since Book doesn't email clients about changes. Say your cancellation terms in the event service description. Book doesn't take payments or deposits, so agree with the host how and when you're paid. Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited services and bookings, no commission, no contract.

Can hosts book an event directly online?
They book the booking call online; you book the event date yourself once the details are agreed.
How do I stop a date being booked twice?
Book each event as one slot with one place: once it's booked, it no longer appears on your page.
How many guests can I read for in an hour?
It depends on your pace and reading length; tell the host so they book enough time.
Does Book take deposits?
No. Agree payment directly with the host and say your terms in the description.
