Tarot readers: booking short question sessions

How tarot readers can offer short question sessions clients book online: slot length, back-to-back slots with buffers, what one question covers, next steps.

6 min read

Offer a short question session as its own bookable service: one question, a small spread, a fixed slot of fifteen to twenty-five minutes and a lower price than a full reading. Say in its description exactly what one question covers, space the slots so each one has a few minutes of buffer, and keep full readings as a separate service. Clients who only want a quick answer find an affordable slot without asking, and you keep longer readings for those who need them.

Why a short session helps your page

Some people hesitate to book an hour-long reading: the price, the time, the fear of not knowing what to ask. A short session is an easy first step, and a way for regular clients to check one thing between two full readings. It also fills gaps in your day that are too short for a full reading. On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page, and each slot belongs to one service with one place.

What one question covers

The short session works only if both sides agree what fits in it. Write it plainly in the description:

  • one subject, phrased as one question, such as a decision, a relationship, a work situation;
  • a small spread, not a full life reading;
  • a few minutes for the client to ask you to clarify;
  • no second question in the same slot: that's a second session or a full reading.

Clients who read this before booking arrive with their question ready, and the session stays within its time.

Slot length and buffers

A twenty-minute session rarely ends exactly at twenty minutes. Space the slots rather than booking them back to back: a twenty-minute session every half hour leaves ten minutes to close, shuffle and breathe before the next client. Open the short session slots on the times you want, and repeat them each week on the weekdays you choose until an end date.

Mixing short and full readings in a day

Short sessions and full readings can share a day, but not the same time. Give each its own blocks, for example short sessions at the end of the afternoon and full readings in the morning, and don't open a short slot over a full reading: Book doesn't stop slots of different services from overlapping, so plan the day so they don't. Separate blocks also help you settle into the pace each format needs.

Short sessions by phone

A one-question reading works well by phone: no travel for a twenty-minute session. Create it as its own service and say in the description that you call the number given at booking at the start of the slot. Phone sessions can sit in the evening or on days at home, apart from your in-person hours.

Pricing and payment

Price the short session so it's clearly an entry point, but not so low that a full reading looks expensive next to it. Some readers deduct the price of a short session from a full reading booked the same week; if you do, say so in both descriptions. Book doesn't take payments, so say in the description how clients pay: at the table, by transfer before a phone session, or another way you accept.

What to ask in the booking note

The booking form takes first name, last name, email and phone, plus an optional note you read in your new booking email. You can invite clients to write their question in a few words, so you can start straight away, but say it's optional: some prefer to say it in person. The note also appears in the calendar file the client receives, so they shouldn't write anything they wouldn't want on their calendar.

When one question isn't enough

Sometimes a short session opens a bigger subject. Answer the question asked, then suggest a full reading rather than stretching the slot into the next client's time. You can book it yourself from your calendar before the client leaves, if they wish: first and last name are required, email and phone optional, and they receive a confirmation with a calendar file when you enter their email.

Clients can't move bookings online: they contact you, and you reschedule or cancel from your bookings list and tell them yourself, since Book doesn't email clients about changes. Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited services and bookings, no commission, no contract.

How long should a one-question session be?
Fifteen to twenty-five minutes, with a few minutes of buffer before the next slot.
Can a client ask two questions in one session?
Say in the description that one slot covers one question; a second question is a second session or a full reading.
Can short sessions and full readings be on the same day?
Yes, in separate blocks of time, never overlapping.
Should clients write their question in the note?
They can, briefly, but make it optional: the note appears in their calendar file.
