Psychics: booking follow-up readings for repeat clients

How psychics can book follow-up readings for repeat clients: spacing sessions, booking the next one at the end, and boundaries for clients who book too often.

6 min read

Give repeat clients a dedicated follow-up service, shorter than a full reading, and agree a gap between readings that leaves time for things to move. Book the next follow-up yourself at the end of a session only when the client wants it, keep a share of your weekly slots for new clients, and say in your description how often you're willing to read for the same person. That keeps your returning clients close without letting a few of them fill your whole week.

A follow-up service of its own

A client you already know doesn't need the full introduction: you can pick up where you left off. A follow-up service with a shorter slot and its own price makes that clear, and its description can say it's for clients you've already seen. On Book, each service has a name, a price and an optional description shown on your public page, and each slot belongs to one service.

How far apart readings should be

A follow-up is useful once something has had time to change: a decision taken, a situation that evolved. Decide the minimum gap you're comfortable with, for example a few weeks, and say it in the follow-up description. Clients who know your rule from the start don't feel turned away when you suggest waiting.

Booking the next one at the end of a reading

When a client wants to come back, you can book the follow-up yourself before they leave or hang up, on a date that respects your gap. First and last name are required, email and phone optional; enter their email so they receive a confirmation with a calendar file. Don't push it: a reading booked because the client felt they had to is a reading they may cancel. Book doesn't send reminders, so a date in their calendar is what they'll see.

Follow-ups by phone or video

A follow-up is a good format for distance: the client already knows you, the session is shorter and they don't need to travel for half an hour. If you offer it, create a follow-up by phone or video as its own service, with its own slots on the days you read from home, and say in the description how you connect: you call the number they give, or you send a video link by email before the session. Clients who live far away, or whose week is full, then have an easy way to keep in touch without waiting for a free afternoon at your practice.

Keeping room for new clients

Regulars are the base of a practice, but if they book every open slot, new clients find nothing on your page. Keep some slots in the week for first readings only, by opening them in the first reading service, and others for follow-ups. Repeat each pattern weekly on the weekdays you choose until an end date. If follow-ups fill up while first readings stay empty, adjust the balance for the coming weeks.

Clients who book very often

Some clients come back again and again, sometimes for the same question. Setting a limit protects them as much as it protects you. A few practical ways:

  • state your minimum gap in the follow-up description and stick to it;
  • when a client books inside that gap, call them and move the reading to a later date from your bookings list;
  • suggest a longer reading less often instead of short ones every week;
  • say clearly what a reading can and can't do, and suggest other support where it makes sense.

When you move or cancel a booking, tell the client yourself: Book doesn't email clients about changes, and they can't reschedule online.

Notes between readings

The booking note reaches you in the new booking email and appears in the client's calendar file, so it's not the place for what you learned in past readings. Keep your own notes elsewhere, and ask in the follow-up description only for a few words on what has changed since last time.

Book costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited services and bookings, no commission, no contract. Your bookings sync with Google, iPhone or Mac calendars, next to the rest of your week.

Should follow-up readings have their own service?
Yes. A shorter slot and its own description make it clear it's for clients you've already seen.
How long should clients wait between readings?
Decide your own minimum gap, say it in the description and apply it consistently.
Can I book the next reading for a client?
Yes, from your calendar, if they want it. Enter their email so they get a confirmation with a calendar file.
What if regulars take all my slots?
Keep some slots for first readings only and others for follow-ups, and adjust the balance week by week.
