Who books IT support

On a company help desk, requests come in through a ticketing system and the employer decides the schedule. Independent IT technicians work differently. Their clients are households, older people who want help with a new phone or computer, freelancers, and small businesses without an IT department. They need someone who can connect remotely for a quick fix, come round when it's more serious, or take a machine back to the workshop.

Most of these requests arrive by phone, often while you're in the middle of another job. A booking page lets clients pick a time and describe the problem, so you arrive with the right cables and parts.

Remote, on site or at the workshop

On Book, each type of appointment is a service with its own description, and a price if you want to show one. You open slots for each at the length it takes. Remote sessions fit short slots between visits; home and office visits need longer ones and a note with the address. Use the description to say how a remote session works and which tool to install. Clients describe the problem in the booking note: the device, what happens, any error message. Ask them not to put passwords there.

Setting up your page

  1. List your services: remote session, home visit, office visit, drop-off, setup, collection.
  2. Open visit slots by area on the days you're nearby.
  3. Book collections yourself from your calendar when a repair is ready.
  4. Share your link on your Google profile, flyers and invoices.

Clients book without an account, with their name, email and phone, and get a confirmation email. You get an email for every new booking. Reschedule or cancel from your bookings list and let the client know, and your calendar syncs with Google, iPhone or Mac. Book doesn't track tickets, connect to devices remotely or take payments. It costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited bookings and services, no commission, no contract.
