Booking a hair salon: why duration is everything

A hairdresser's appointment book is a puzzle. A men's cut takes 30 minutes, a cut and blow-dry an hour, root colour an hour and a half, balayage close to three hours. When clients call and say "just a colour, it won't take long", the afternoon ends up running late — or you turn them away because you can't see at a glance what fits.

Online booking only works for hairdressers if each booking has its real length. Questions hairdressers ask

Yes. You open 3-hour slots for balayage and 30-minute slots for cuts. Clients choose the service first, then pick one of its free slots.
What about clients who still phone the salon?
You book the slot yourself from your calendar while you're on the phone. That slot is then no longer offered online.
Do clients need an account to book a haircut?
No. They pick a service and a slot on your page and book in a few clicks. They receive a confirmation email.
