Hygienists working with their own patients

The way dental hygienists work depends a lot on the country. In some, they can see patients directly without a referral; in others, they work under a dentist's prescription or inside a dental practice. This page is for hygienists who manage their own appointments: self-employed hygienists renting a surgery, hygienists in a direct-access practice, or those running a hygiene clinic.

Hygiene work is recurring by nature. Patients come back every three, six or twelve months, and periodontal patients more often. Every one of those visits used to be a phone call; with a booking page, patients book the next one themselves.

Appointment types

On Book, each appointment type is a service with its own price and description, and you open slots for each at the length it takes: 45 minutes for a routine hygiene visit, an hour for a new-patient assessment or periodontal maintenance. Use the description to explain what's included and who each appointment is for. Clients pick the service, see its price and duration, and choose a free slot.
