Online booking for independent health practitioners
Health practitioners in private practice share one constraint: during a consultation, you give the patient your full attention. Calls go unanswered, messages wait until the end of the day, and time between patients disappears into returning calls. For practitioners without a secretary, the phone is often the biggest source of lost appointments and interruptions.
A booking page moves that work to the patient: they see your consultation types, their length and price, and choose a free slot themselves, at any hour. They receive a confirmation email, and you receive an email for each new booking.
Where practices differ
Each profession organises time differently. Osteopaths and chiropractors usually see patients for 30 to 60 minutes, often once or a few times. Physiotherapists and speech therapists follow patients over a series of sessions. Psychologists and psychotherapists work in regular weekly or fortnightly sessions of around 50 minutes. Dietitians alternate a long first consultation with shorter follow-ups. Some practitioners also make home visits or consult by video.
On Book, each type of consultation is a service with its own price and description, and you open slots for each at the length it takes. First consultations can be longer than follow-ups; home visits can have their own slots on the days you travel.
What Book does, and what it doesn't
