The path of an orthosis or prosthesis

Orthotists and prosthetists make and fit devices that have to be exactly right for one person: foot orthotics, braces, splints, compression garments, limb prostheses. That takes a sequence of appointments: an assessment, a casting or scan, one or more fittings, then adjustments as the device settles or the person's needs change. Between visits, the device is made in the workshop.

Patients often come on a prescription, sometimes with a family member or a carer, and some travel a long way. Being able to see the next fitting slots and book one without calling is a real help, and it keeps you in the workshop instead of on the phone.

Each step with its own length

On Book, each step is a service with its own description, and you open slots for each at the length it takes: an hour for an assessment or a fitting, 45 minutes for casting, 30 for an adjustment. Where fees are set by your health system, explain them in the description instead of an amount, along with what to bring (prescription, current device, suitable shoes).
