Online booking for podiatry assistants

What an assistant does, and for which patients, is set by the podiatrist and the practice's organisation. Within that frame, the routine appointments are the ones that fit a booking page best: they are short, they come back at regular intervals and patients know exactly what they need. Nail care every few weeks, a routine foot care visit, the collection of insoles once they are ready, a short advice session for a patient learning to look after their feet.

Each of these becomes a service on the practice's page, with a description saying who runs it and what the appointment includes, so patients book the right thing.

Some practices group routine care on dedicated days. Open back-to-back 20-minute slots on those days, and repeat them weekly: create the slot once and repeat it on the weekdays you choose until an end date. Patients who come back regularly pick their next appointment themselves, without calling. When a patient books at the desk, book the slot for them from the calendar.

The booking form asks for first name, last name, email and phone, plus an optional note, where a patient can mention mobility needs or that someone will accompany them.

Patients receive a confirmation email when they book, and the practice receives an email for each new booking. To move or cancel, use the bookings list and let the patient know. The calendar syncs with Google, iPhone or Mac, and the page shows times in the practice's time zone, with its name displayed.
