How sign language interpreting is booked
Sign language interpreters are booked for moments where communication matters: a medical consultation, an appointment at a public office, a job interview, a team meeting, a training course, a wedding or a conference. Some bookings come from deaf people themselves, others from employers, schools, hospitals or event organisers. Longer assignments usually need preparation and, for full days, often a second interpreter to take turns.
Phone-based booking doesn't work for many deaf clients. A booking page lets anyone book in writing, see your free slots straight away and add the context of the assignment.
Appointments, meetings and events
On Book, each format is a service with its own price and description, and you open slots for each at the length it takes, within a single day. Use the description to say which sign language you work in, your travel area, whether you work remotely and what you need beforehand, such as slides or an agenda. Clients can add a note with the place and the type of appointment. For events needing two interpreters, say in the description that you arrange the co-interpreter separately.
