How skating lessons are organised
Skating coaches work within the rink's schedule: freestyle sessions early in the morning, after school and at weekends, public sessions where learn-to-skate classes run, and occasional extra ice before competitions. Private lessons are short, often 15 to 30 minutes, and several skaters share the same session, each booking their own lesson with the coach. Off-ice training and choreography add longer sessions outside the rink.
Coordinating all those short lessons by message with parents quickly becomes a puzzle. A page with your actual slots within each ice session makes it simple.
Short lessons inside your ice time
On Book, each lesson type is a service with its own price and description, and you open slots for each at the length it takes, inside the ice sessions you have: 20 or 30-minute private lessons back to back, a semi-private lesson, a group class. For group and off-ice sessions, set the slot's capacity to the number of places; each skater books one. Use the description for level, what to bring and which rink.
Season and competitions

- Before competitions: open extra lessons on the extra ice you've booked.
- Rink closures: cancel or move lessons from your bookings list.
Skaters or parents book without an account and receive a confirmation email; you receive an email for each new booking. Your calendar syncs with Google, iPhone or Mac.
