Online booking for mediators

Mediation usually starts with an information meeting, often held separately with each person, to explain how it works, check that mediation suits the situation and agree on the ground rules. Then come joint sessions, where both parties meet with you, spaced a few weeks apart so they have time to think and gather information. Family, neighbour, workplace and commercial disputes all follow a version of this rhythm.

Scheduling is delicate: the parties may not want to contact each other, and each back-and-forth through you takes time. A booking page lets each person choose and book their own place, without having to agree with the other side first.

On Book, each type of session is a service with its own price and description, and you open slots for each at the length it takes. For a joint session, set the slot to two places: each party books one place with their own details, and the slot is full once both have booked. Individual meetings use a slot with a single place. Use the description to explain the process, the confidentiality of sessions and what to bring. The booking note is optional; ask people to keep the details of the dispute for the session itself.

People book without an account, with their name, email and phone. They get a confirmation email, and you get an email for every new booking. Reschedule or cancel from your bookings list and let both parties know, and sync your calendar with Google, iPhone or Mac. Book doesn't manage mediation agreements, case notes, invoices or payments. It costs €5/month, everything included: unlimited bookings and services, no commission, no contract.
